Attention Sidney Crosby haters!?

THE HANDSHAKE CRAP:
Sidney was interviewed right away after the penguins won the Stanley cup. He did not intentionally snub Lidstrom. Lidstrom could have just as easily skated to Crosby seeing that he was being interviewed. Sidney had an extended conversation with Mike Babcock as well (another reason he took a while in the handshake)
It's the easiest thing being on the winning end of the handshake line.
DIVER/DISRESPECTFUL/WHINER
If you have EVER watched Sidney play you will know he is not a diver.
If you have ever listened to Sidney Crosby being interviewed you will know he respects the game as much if not more than the other players.
Sidney argues calls, he is a great captain.
SIDNEY CROSBY VS. ALEXANDER OVECHKIN
They are both great players two of the best in the world. Ovie is a better goal scorer, Crosby on the other hand is an all around better player.
I am a long time CAPITALS FAN. I do not like Sidney Crosby (mostly because he is not on my team!!) but I respect Sidney as a great player.
I made the question because of that Bubbles question earlier about the handshake. It's been two months. I'm in my 30s as well. It was ridiculous what a big deal people were making of it. I suppose I am doing the same thing but I just had to say something about all of it.
Exactly he is as his name suggests a KID. Gretzky was labeled as a whiner as well, he learned and look at what Gretzky did.

Does a player really have to fight to be a great gifted player-no. By the way I just want to point out that Sidney fights more than ovechkin and is he being called a pussy?

Dude, I could seriously careless about the handshake crap. I’m in my early 30′s. I’m not a teenager. I have been watching hockey since the 1980′s. I could careless about who shakes who’s hand. This is stupid. And further more, I could careless about Sidney Crosby. Is he good? Yes. Do I root for him? No. Why? Because I was born and raised in Michigan. Plain and simple. I have far more things to worry about than a handshake. Fine, the Penguins beat my Wings. Does it suck? Of course. Am I over it? Yes. That is in the past now. Just like in 1995 when the Devils beat my Wings. It happened, and there is nothing I can do about it.
EDIT: There is no written rule that states everyone must shake hands. There just isn’t. It’s just a tradition. It does show respect and that’s how it started. But no one is forced to do it.

Many fans hate Crosby because he is such a great and naturally gifted player. The other problem that many fans have with Crosby is that he has a reputation of being a pussy, he is not very frequent to fight, and when he does he does not fight fair, as evidenced by him jumping the gun against Brett Mclean and his punches to Boris Valabik’s groin. Personally I am not a Crosby fan, but I do love watching him play.

My only complaint about Crosby is one that can be applied to anyone who wears the "C" for their team. That is I don’t like how todays athletes – generally – overemphasize the whining part of debating calls. I prefer yelling at the referee but thats it. I don’t like players showing disgust, or making hand gestures signifying "what gives here?" and anything that communicates childish rebelling.
We’re all young once and we all have our learning curve. Hockey can be a very emotional sport and referees get it wrong more often than any of us are comfortable with. But that has always been the case. I got to know hockey in a time when there would be shouting and nothing else. Today, it can get like opera sometimes and Croz is one who has stepped over the line at times. But all in all, he’s a kid, and he’s gonna do things like a kid. We all go through it.

Your homerism is blinding you on the diving. As for the interviews, he HAS to say those things as taught to him during the league’s media courses. All rookies have to take said course.

The only reason the penguins won is because datsyuk was hurt and zetterberg was so worn out from being the only solid offensive player. zetterberg had to fill his spot and datsyuk’s.
If datsyuk would have been healty then the red wings would have won for sure.

I never really looked into the handshake too much. Season is over and the Pens won, I’m a Flyer fan and it is just the truth, no matter how uncomfortable it is. I look forward to next season and the Pens will have the target painted on their back and the Eastern Conference has bulked up to be competitive and tackle the ‘Two-Headed’ monster in the Pitt. Should make for good hockey…
That being said, Sid is a diver indeed…Maybe not all the time, but I’ve seen times that makes me think he should of took a career in Hollywood. The Kid dives just like a lot of people trying to give their team the man-up. To say he NEVER dives, is a terrible terrible lie.
True, both players are highly touted and highly talented. They deliver on some of the biggest stages for hockey, but Crosby is NOT the better all-around player (he has great stick handling and playmaking ability) Ovechkin can create scoring chances, score goals, check, way more durable then Crosby. Guy gets his nose broke in a game(against Montreal) and then comes back that game to score 4 goals??? I think? Sid would never do that. Sorry. Ovie wins.

What he did was flat wrong; all he has to do (assuming he hasn’t already) is have a brief man-to-man moment with Detroit’s captain at some point post-haste vis-a-vie a phone call or a hand-written note. Takes 30 seconds, and then…pretty please…let it go. To err is human, to acknowledge and correct it is divine. If Crosby goes this route and Lidstrom is still bent about it…then the problem lies with Lidstrom.
As to your "I’m 30 and it doesn’t matter"…bollocks. Sportsmanship matters, regardless of age (bad sportsmanship is just that, regardless if you’re 20, 30, 40, or whatever). You don’t do it out of a so-called obligation, you do it out of respect for your opponent. If you lose, you seek them out to congratulate them. If you win, you thank them for a good game/match and being a worthy opponent. You do your best, and you leave it out on the ice (or field of play)…when it’s over…it’s over. You try like he** to win, but regardless you take a few moments to show your opponent respect that they deserve. Period.
Handshake – History. Not a big deal, let it go.
Disrespectful – Not in my opinion.
Diver/Whiner – Absolutely. When have you ever seen the captain of an NHL team ask the refs to make an announcement to have the fans stop throwing hats after a hat trick(game 2 in DC). If the refs actually did that, they still be throwing hats now. Also, throughout the playoffs, Crosby was flattened many times in front of the net, drawing penalties. Many of those hits would not have even knocked him off balance had they happened anywhere else on the ice.
Sid vs Ovie – Edge to Ovie, even as all around player. Hard to compare as they do play different positions with different roles on their teams. Sid has more support. Ovie is a better passer and defender than he gets credit for. If the coach asked Ovie to move to center and be more of a setup man, he has the skills and vision to be one of the best. That’s not what they’re paying him to do right now. Plus, I’d take Malkin over Crosby.
Only reason to hate either player is because they are not on your team.
